Update! Hi hi hi

It's been a minute. Here's a quick update, because I really do think about blogging all the time. I've written a million and one posts in my head. Swearsies.

*I'm very proud to say that I have lost 49.5 pounds in 3 and a half months (that .5 of a pound really likes me and does not want to budge). It feels less like a 'diet' now and more just like life. I have things I eat and things I don't eat. My latest focus is getting physical. I hate working out. Hate hate hate. Red hot hatred. But I still have a long way to go in losing weight and I know working out will break my little plateau (here's to the next 50 pounds!)

*I'm currently writing this on my phone from work. Work has become very boring and monotonous and just meh. I am thinking of looking to see what else is out there. But I don't know what I want to do. My dream of having my own bakery doesn't fit with me now, with the weight loss and the quinoa and all. So yeah.

*B and I are magic. Things have been better then ever. He has been such a support to me. I love that guy.

*I instagram more then anything and really like it. I've actually started following health and fitness bloggers there and it's motivating. I'm gabbyshewrote if you like pictures of usually healthy food and chihuahuas (who doesn't).

Welp, back to the Lonely Hearts Club. How have you been?

and if you don't know, then now you know

So maybe this isn't a new idea {er...recipe} to you.
Maybe you've eaten it every day for ten years
{in which case...why didn't you tell me?}
But anyways.

I posted this photo and recipe on Instagram {gabbyshewrote} and I am still getting comments about it.
Facebook messages of thanks.
Tweets.
Because it's seriously good.
Overnight Oats.

And if you don't know, then now you know.

my recipe:
1/2 cup oats
3/4 cup vanilla almond milk
a handful of fresh blueberries
all combined in a jar, then put in the fridge overnight.

Then, in the morning, I usually add:
cinnamon or
1 teaspoon brown sugar or
1/2 a sliced banana or
nuts
Whatever you want, yo. The point is to mix the oats and whatever milk you want overnight, then eat them cold in their creamy glory. So good and filling!

Have you tried overnight oats?

because i want to remember this

Our usual weeknight date: conveyor belt sushi and a movie at the cheap theaters.
A big hug in the mall parking lot in between.

"I feel better now" he sighed.
"Why? Were you not feeling well?"
"No. I just feel better when I'm with you."

Sometimes he says things that I can't stop thinking about.

what I've been doing with my life

On June 25th, I embarked on a lifestyle change {I can't use the word 'diet'}, designed by my sister {you may know her as Liz from It's Unbeweavable}. A few days before that, I was in Laguna Beach with my love, Ben. We were supposed to go to a play and had some time to kill. So, from the theater, we walked down a hill into downtown, all to get some salt water taffy. As we were walking, I noticed the amazeballs view - an ocean view that could kill ya, it's so gorg. I noticed the athletic girl who walked past Ben and I.

And then we were at the Candy Baron, and I noticed the million different flavors of salt water taffy.
{this is the actual salt water taffy}

Ben bought ten dollars worth, because he loves me. And we started the walk up the hill, shoving taffy into our mouths.

Now, Ben is pretty athletic. He bikes and walks a lot. And he's not overweight like moi. So he had no problem walking up this hill that quickly turned into Mt. Everest for me. I was dying. Panting. I had to stop several times.

And then, the girl passed us on the way down...passed us on the way up. As I stood there, sweating, red-faced and out of breath, with a wad of taffy in my cheek.

I was embarrassed. And what. the.heck. I am 31. I should have NO issue with a stinkin' hill.

And so...a few text messages with my ultra supportive sister later, I received a meal plan.
And away we went.

Best of Summer: Sangria

Welp, I'm an awful blogger. But I have not always been an awful blogger. So here's some of my favorite 'summer on gabby', she wrote posts!
*********

Sometimes Elizabeth Marie has really brilliant ideas
Like last night, when she said
"I want to make sangria"
As a supportive sister,
I sliced and squeezed and stirred
and drank.

{if you look behind the club soda, you can see my lil tomato of joy!}

Sangria*
1.5 L red wine (we used real klassy cheap burgundy)
1 cup pineapple juice
juice from 2 lemons, 2 oranges, 2 limes
1/4 cup sugar
thinly sliced lemons, oranges, limes and strawberries
2 cups club soda
(hard alcohol can be added...most recipes called for brandy. we skipped it)
We let it sit in the fridge for a few hours.
It tastes like summer.

*this is a mix of a few recipes. Maybe not authentic but don't rain on my parade!
